Keep Burning: Why you need to checkout the NEW Orangetheory Fitness South.
If you watch my stories on Instagram, you’ll know that I recently took a class at the new Orangetheory Fitness South located at the Barclay Center in Wilmington. You will also know that I was REALLY nervous about going. It sounds silly thinking back on it now, but I legit had the worst anxiety about it. I took a look at their Instagram and website to get an idea of what was in store, and all I could think was “this workout looks so intense, I think I might die.” Now if you're not familiar with Orangetheory , let me explain. It's a 60 minute workout split into intervals of cardio and strength training. You'll wear a heart rate monitor throughout the class which helps track intensity and overall metabolic burn.
So the time had come for me to put on my sneaks and head to class. Before your first class, they ask that you arrive 30 minutes early. This gives you and the coach a chance to chat about your fitness goals ( aka I want to look good in a bathing suit, duh) and walk you through the workout so you're not left feeling lost during class. While I was getting familiar with the facility, I noticed other people starting to arrive. As more and more people showed up, my anxiety completely went away. The class was full of participants of all different ages and fitness levels. They were "real" people, and if they could do it....I COULD DO IT!
Class began, and it was intense from start to finish! There was definitely times where I wanted to give up, but working out in a group setting always motivates me to push myself and gives me a sense of accountability. If I go to the gym alone, I'll get on the elliptical for 20-30 minutes and leave. Anyone else guilty of that? Anyhow, the 60 minutes was finally up, and although I just had my ass kicked...I felt GOOD!!!! The trainer brought me over to one of the flat screen tvs that surround the room to explain my results. I burned over 800 calories and was going to continue to burn post workout! I was so stoked on these results. Needless to say, I fell in love with this workout and would highly recommend you checking it out if you get the chance. The best part is, you can try your first class for free if you're local. So what are you waiting for?! Remember, don't let the fact that people often refer to this class as "hard" or "intense" intimidate you. Instead, let it motivate you! Workout at your own pace, and you're going to see great results. *BONUS* The staff at this location is incredible, and will totally make you feel comfortable and welcome.
