Designer Spotlight: TIBI (and the ten year love affair with my closet).
Some of y'all have known me for years, and for some this is the first look into my life and personal style. For those of you that know me, you know there is no real way to define my style. One day I want to be preppy and feminine, and the next a little edgy. One could describe me as a chameleon of fashion. My day to day style is based on my surroundings.
As I began curating the outfits for this week's blog posts, I realized that although my style is all over the place there are a few brands that have had a reoccurring role in my wardrobe. One of these happens to be Tibi.
I discovered Tibi in 2007 while working at AB Surf Shop located in Atlantic Beach, NC. You could basically say it was love at first sight. I'm pretty sure I own 90% of the Tibi summer 2008 collection (sorry bank account).
At the time, the brand was full of dresses and prints (right of up my alley). A few years ago, the company went through a rebrand that totally changed the brands aesthetic. It had evolved from printed silk dresses into clean and cool separates. This drastic change definitely left some previous Tibi fans confused and a little disappointed. For me, I was still on board. It was like one of my favorite designers was growing and evolving at the same time my personal style was changing. So here I am....a decade later...still being drawn to the same brand I fell in love with so many years ago.
